Learn the ancient art of Shibori dyeing! Shibori is a Japanese manual hand-dyeing technique that produces beautiful patterns on fabric in a range of blues. Create a fabulous larger scarf using Indigo dye for yourself or give as a special gift.  

This class is for those with basic sewing OR dyeing experience* (including past students). We’ll review some basics of the vat and Shibori prep and then dive into creating one large scarf. Participants can choose a smooth rayon scarf with twisted fringe (22” x 72”) OR a lighter weight rayon Infinity style scarf (21” x 77”). We’ll focus on Shibori techniques not previously taught.

Much of the class time will involve stitching, folding and binding to prep the fabric before soaking. The magic begins when we submerge the pieces multiple times in the dye vat! We’ll finish by rinsing thoroughly and hanging to dry.
