Artist Bio

Sue Fox Mitrano is an artist who works in a variety of media. Currently she is creating Shibori textiles and nature-inspired linocut prints. Her hand-dyed scarves, accessories and home goods are made with traditional Shibori techniques as well as original designs. She has been sewing clothing and textiles since childhood and enjoys using these skills in her Shibori artistry.

Sue’s printmaking is fostered by her love of nature and gardening. While hiking trails or touring gardens around the US and Europe, she photographs her subjects, then draws her images and carves them in a linoleum block. She also depicts the flowers found right outside her back door in her extensive perennial gardens and around the Delaware River.

A native of West Windsor, NJ, Sue had a career as a graphic designer before becoming a certified K-12 art teacher. She holds a BFA from Syracuse University and a BA in Art Education from The College of New Jersey. She has taught in public and private schools as well as local art centers and studios.
